History and Program
Take a very tight urban redevelopment sloping site located in the heart of the central business district and create a new office complex to fill the needs of the owner and city.
Design
This design concept was created under a fast-track schedule due to numerous issues, including special soil engineering, city code requirements, major utility issues and city pedestrian ways both elevated and underground.
Utilizing a granite stone panel system that contained a flexible joint sealant to allow for the building movement, this class A office tower was an example of the innovative design and problem solving that allowed the major building tenants IBM and the city of Akron to enjoy a new facility in a city that had not seen a new office tower for the past 25 years.
